11 months!

Dear Zoe,

You are 11 months old! Here is what we want to remember about you:
-You have had a lot of gastrointestinal, teething, temperature issues lately...which has made things interesting around here.  Mommy and Daddy have gotten a few days off each to take care of you after daycare kicked you out!  It was fun staying home with you...

-You are little miss independent lately when it comes to eating.  You pretty much refuse to eat food we serve you from a spoon, preferring to bring it to your mouth by yourself.  This works well for mashed avocado and banana and not so well for soup.  When we give you the spoon, you like to wave it violently in a fit of excitement and we duck to avoid flying food.

-You are what we affectionately refer to as "A STINKER".  We have been trying to get you to wave "bye-bye" for about a month now and you would always looked back amused, but with no hint that you would return the gesture.  When we mentioned that this was important to us to your teacher, she waved at you then and there and you waved right back.  Come to find out, you've been waving to your classroom teachers and all the other classroom teachers for quite a while.  Hence, the "STINKER" label.  Ever since you were outed you've been waving to us all the time!

-You stood all by yourself while we were at the Museum of Science & Industry.  Maybe it was the fancy Mary Jane's you were wearing ;)  You are also walking with your baby stroller all around the house.  You take off and then look back and wave...adorable.  You also love to throw a ball...you get SUPER excited and pump it up and down a few times before you let go...you won't go after the ball if it gets returned out of your reach though...throwing must much more fun than chasing.

-You got 2 teeth on the top and another tooth on the bottom (we were wondering when the 4th tooth on the bottom would finally erupt).  That's a grand total of 6!  You enjoy biting into things!

-One more month and you will be a year old...you can stop growing now...we want you to stay this little forever!

Museum of Science & Industry

We started out having some free snacks in the hospitality room that was sponsored by the "Corporate Day" event we attended (thanks to Aunt Maria and Winston & Strawn!)

We went to the Jim Henson exhibit...and took this "illegal" picture of Kermie before we knew pictures weren't allowed...oops!

Zoe wanted everyone to know that the exhibit was made possible, in part, by Daddy's client.

Fascinated by the tornado simulation.

"Choo Choo!"

Awwww...so cute.

Here chickie, chickie, chickie!

Taking a load off to take some sleep habit quizzes.

Zoe's first trip on an airplane...

...in a museum, that is!

10 months!

Dear Zoe,

You are 10 months old! Here is what we want to remember about you:
-Still sleeping like a champ...unless you're waking up at 1:30, 3:00, and 4:30 due to teething, that is!

-Some days at dinner time you resemble the Very Hungry Caterpillar...you just eat, and eat, and eat...unless you have that perpetual stomach bug that keeps looping around your class.  You eat lots of finger food and mashed food and barely any baby food at all.  Your favorites are cantaloupe, Cheerios, bananas, and cheese.

-You are saying new combinations of sounds every day.  An interesting one is when it sounds like you are saying "didn't, didn't, didn't, didn't, didn't, didn't, didn't, didn't, didn't."  You say this when you are mad and when you are happy, but there is a definite difference in your intonation when you're feeling one way over the other.  We think you must be practicing for one day when you need to say "I DIDN'T do it!"

-Right now we are trying to teach you "bye, bye" but you show no signs that this means anything of significance yet. However, you have started to feed us when we open our mouths like a baby bird while you're sitting in your high chair.  Very sweet!

-You now have full command of the house as you are a proficient crawler at this point.  You stick your right foot out in front of you and push off the floor to move the rest of your body.  Kind of reminds of of Lurch, from The Adam's Family.

-There's not much point to 12 month clothes...we're going to move on to 18 months.  Maybe those will fit you for more than a week.

-Sometimes you think it's fun to give Mommy a raspberry on her leg or to attack Daddy's face with all of your gums and drool.  You KNOW you are being funny.

-Every day gets more fun with you around...keep it up!

Sleepover...

Once in a while, a sleepover is in order...especially when you are teething!
